Carwash

Once upon a time there was a neighbor, who parked his car next to mine. I have my usual parking spot and it only work if I approach from the left, then turn into that specific space. If I approach from the right, I kind of can't see how far right the car goes and I always end up double parking.
Turning left into the parking space works, because I can't see the white line from the driver's side and I usually get it right.
So this neighbor. He left his car (abandoned may be the right word..?) next to mine for quite a long time (more than a week) and it stood there gathering dust, which the rain washed away once in a while. The car was looking miserable. No one would drive it after yet another layer of dust and mud had settled on to the car. Thankfully that little car wash guy appears at that particular moment. A light-bulb moment: "Can you please wash the car?". I hand him some money, and take off to work. Few hours later I return from work and the car is once again very clean and shiny.
Until the next rain, which will no doubt arrive later today, or until the neighbor decides to take it away.
He definitely has no idea who is behind the carwash and he does not need to ever find out. lol

Someone else messed up this time

Stuff goes missing all the time. It's incredible. My camera, small (?) amount of cash that I exchanged in the bank and lots of other things have mysteriously vanished over the years.
This time an important had gone missing, but I got a replacement. Thanks be to God.
I just wasn't the one who lost it.
Car key has disappeared. I don't have it.
Booklet from the downtown car dealer has gone missing. I've never seen it. It's blue and "surely you have it". Well, what can I say.

I'm trying to wean myself off watching horror movies. They don't really help in my present state of mind. I guess that's one of the reasons why I decided to tidy up at home- because I couldn't cope with the mess anymore and because "stuff" was disappearing. I've replaced horror movies with cartoons and kids' movies. That's a huge leap, yes, but to a better direction (becoming a child again.... looool). I could never watch horror movies/thrillers/scary stuff until I was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. That's when I felt the urge (an obsessive compulsive one) to watch all possible horror movies, from "The Omen" to "The Saw". Some of them were truly frightening, but I never lost a minute of sleep. I wasn't scared. I'm sort of getting back into that "oh I'm scared now" state of mind and it's probably a good idea to find something else to do.

Exercise too... I think my blood pressure has been getting higher and higher. I found lots of useful information in American Heart Association website http://www.heart.org
I have more risk factors I ever realized and it's probably the right time to do something about it.
Of course, when you have to enter your height and weight into the BMI calculator, I don't think it takes into consideration your body type! Its blunt verdict was "OBESE". Yeah, right. My body is not made of just "fat". Anyway as a guideline it's fabulous.

Ooops I messed up again

On the New Year's Eve I started tidying up in my apartment. When I finished (not because I wanted to, but I had to, because I was exhausted) three hours later, most of the clutter had gone, the floor was shiny, bed linen had been changed and the kitchen was spotless. No bleach was spared and on the following day I went to the store and bought more cleaning products.
I can't even begin to explain how good it feels to live in a tidy and organized place.
I don't spend hours looking for stuff that has gone missing months ago.
A good start for 2016.

I haven't even messed up too bad at work. Yet. 2016 is still at its beginning.
A colleague accused me of "messing things up": "Listen, you messed up. What's this email about a course you booked and then cancelled it...?" WTF???!!! Messed up?!
Next time, dear colleague, don't get confused and confuse me in the process too. Read the emails. They were course bookings for two separate persons.
So I messed up then?
Next time we speak I'll be sure to emphasize the "messed up" aspect in our conversation.
That left a really bad taste in my mouth and I was about to call her back and say excuse me, check your facts and then pick up the phone.

I left it at that. This time.

Today's question

What if we did not have this earth and the other planets? What would we have?
Emptiness, oblivion, nothingness, blank space, silence?

Stop signs and winter

This cold (it's all relative, but +7C is cold here) weather must be impacting some people's ability to drive a car. A dark blue Chevrolet Malibu ran a red light and nearly hit me lat week. I just hope the camera in the intersection caught him! Idiot. And yes, I had a green light.
Another near miss yesterday. I was on the main road and I see a taxi (Chevrolet Tahoe, possibly. A big SUV anyway) approaching from the right and he would have definitely seen me coming unless he was blind. I am beginning to believe that he was blind, because he couldn't see the stop sign!Stop sign! You know that red sign. I applied brakes just in time, because this guy just kept coming! As a result all my stuff on the backseat flies all over the place and same goes with the stuff in the trunk. Just that moment when it all happens so quickly, my first thought was to get out of the car, take a photo of the guy and his car and then beat him up. Instead I drive away shouting abuse at him.
I've learned my lesson after the first near miss (why is it always a Chevrolet...?) and my dashboard camera was on.The camera angle wasn't exactly right, but I got the footage I needed and the driver will soon be caught and barbecued. He had no passengers in the car, thanks be to God.
If I was a suicidal lunatic, I probably wouldn't have stopped.

C'mon guys, it can't be that difficult to stop at a Stop sign and have a proper look. Maybe I should also add that both of the drivers were men. Nothing against men driving, but I'm just saying.

According to Wikipedia: "A stop sign is a traffic sign to notify drivers that they must stop before proceeding", and here's the sign- I hope it's big enough. Thanks Wikipedia.

Traffic safety part VIII

This definitely is one of those traffic related posts, again, so if traffic and stupid drivers don't interest you, just wait for the next blog post.
Everyone, even schoolkids (who are actually very smart these days) know that days get shorter and nights are longer. Therefore it can still be dark in the mornings. Would it then make sense to find out if your car has something called "headlights" and once that's done, then learn how to use the headlights. If your car is not equipped with headlights, consider taking public transport or painting your car with a fluorescent color. If your car is grey, beige, some sort of dark color, it kind of acts as a camouflage and I can't see you and your posh Nissan Maxima coming from wherever you are coming from. Even worse, if it's a so called luxury car. You would not want anyone to bump into your precious car, would you? So headlights do help. They may save your life and mine. My car is black, but that does not matter, because my headlights are on.

Don't even get me started on motorbikes and cyclists. Often you see them when it's already too late.
I'm not even going to mention those who drive 20mph, when the speed limit is 70mph.
